Cookie Policy

A short, plain-English explanation of what we store in your browser when you visit wappdev.co.uk.

1. Short version

We do not use any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies on this website. No third-party tracking, no cross-site profiling, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel.

We use one small piece of browser storage purely to remember your light/dark theme preference. That is all.

2. What we actually store

Theme preference (functional)

When you switch between light and dark mode using the toggle in the header, we save that choice in your browser’s localStorage under the key theme. This lets the site remember your preference between visits.

  • Type: functional / strictly necessary
  • Lifetime: persists until you clear browser storage
  • Shared with anyone? No. It never leaves your browser.

Under UK PECR and GDPR, this kind of strictly functional storage does not require prior consent.

3. Third-party cookies

We do not embed third-party scripts that drop tracking cookies. Specifically, we do not use:

  • Google Analytics, Tag Manager, or Ads
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel or any social media trackers
  • Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar behavioural tools
  • Advertising or retargeting networks

4. Server-side data

Some basic data is recorded server-side for security and operational purposes (IP address, request path, timestamp). This is not stored as a cookie in your browser. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. If we add analytics in future

If we ever add analytics, we will choose a privacy-friendly, cookieless option (such as Plausible or Vercel Analytics) and update this page. If we ever add anything that requires consent under UK PECR, we will add a clear opt-in banner before any tracking begins.

6. Managing browser storage

You can clear localStorage and any cookies at any time through your browser settings:

  • Chrome:Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data and permissions
  • Firefox:Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari:Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Clearing the theme entry will reset the site to your system preference next time you visit.
