About

A technical studio, not a generalist agency.

WappDev is a London software studio, founded in 2012, building custom platforms for serious operations: commerce systems, enterprise workspaces, mobile apps, and the integrations between them. Engineering-led work, not template installs.

How we started

WappDev was founded in 2012 and is based in London. It started as a generalist agency: websites, apps, marketing tools, whatever work came in. That worked for a while, but the projects we enjoyed most and did our best work on were always the technically demanding ones.

Generic agency positioning attracts generic work. We were getting pulled into commodity projects (template installs, basic landing pages, low-budget builds) that didn't match what we were actually capable of delivering. The decision was simple: stop being a generalist agency, start being a specialist studio.

What we build

Three things, done well. Custom commerce platforms for brands that have outgrown Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento and need full control over pricing, checkout, B2B and multi-channel sales. Enterprise workspaces and operations software: member portals, internal tools, admin dashboards and ERP-style systems with proper role-based access, audit logging and compliance reporting. And mobile apps and integration engineering: React Native (Expo) apps for delivery, sales, ops and field teams, POS customisation, and the connections between commerce, ERP, POS and accounting systems.

The stack is TypeScript end to end: Next.js and Node on the server, PostgreSQL for data, Vendure as the commerce engine where a project calls for one, and Prisma, Redis and GraphQL where they earn their place. Every business rule lives in versioned code, which keeps systems testable and maintainable long after launch.

Why Vendure

Most e-commerce platforms force you into their workflow. Shopify is fast but limiting. Magento is powerful but bloated. WooCommerce is flexible but fragile. Vendure is different. It's built for developers who need real control over the commerce stack. TypeScript-first, headless by default, and designed to be extended through plugins. It's the closest thing to a clean foundation we've found.

Each project we ship leaves us with reusable building blocks: plugins, components, architectural patterns. We have built more than 30 production Vendure plugins (reward points, affiliates, bundles, B2B pricing, order bumps and more) and are slowly productising them into a catalogue other Vendure teams can use. Our clients get the benefit of work already proven elsewhere, without paying for it again from scratch.

How we work

Direct, technical, pragmatic. No account managers, no PowerPoint decks, no buzzword-heavy proposals. You talk to the developers building your project. We don't pretend to know what we don't, and we don't take on work outside our capabilities.

Every engagement starts with a discovery call to understand your requirements and constraints. We then provide a detailed scope, timeline and fixed quote. Most commerce platform builds run 8 to 16 weeks; mobile app builds 4 to 10 weeks; smaller integration projects 1 to 4 weeks. Enterprise workspace projects run against clear milestones, or on a retainer for ongoing development. We respond to new enquiries within 24 hours.

Who we work with

We are UK-based and work with international clients. The common thread is complexity that a SaaS template cannot absorb: member organisations and professional bodies, regulated industries, multi-tenant operations, and commerce businesses whose pricing, logistics or field operations need their own software.

Recent client work includes the connected commerce ecosystem for Impact Nutrition (Vendure backend, Next.js storefront and three React Native apps for delivery, warehouse and sales teams), and two projects for ICANN's Registrar Stakeholder Group: the RRSG Members workspace that manages 125+ registrar companies and their representatives, and the ACID Tool, a free public lookup that identifies the right abuse contact for a domain.

The products we publish

Alongside client work, WAPPDEV UK publishes its own software. The products are a direct expression of how the studio works: say what the software knows, say what it does not, and leave the consequential decision with the person accountable for it.

AbuseRoute: Private, access-controlled API that returns the registrar and hosting-network abuse contacts for a domain, for SOCs, CERTs and abuse desks.

Docavo: Turns receipts, invoices and statements into VAT-safe records for UK sole traders and landlords.

HelpRouter UK: Finds the right local support, reporting and volunteering services in the UK, built on Open Referral UK data.

Who runs it

WAPPDEV UK is run by its founder, Khaled Doulami, who has worked in technology since 2009 and started companies in Tunisia and the UK since 2015. There is no layer between you and the people doing the work.
